Author Biography

Jonathan West

Jonathan West is an environmental historian. His book The Face of Nature: An Environmental History of the Otago Peninsula won the W. H. Oliver Prize, the J. M. Sherrard Award, and was a finalist in the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards. He was the 2019 J. D. Stout Fellow at the Stout Research Centre for New Zealand Studies, at Victoria University of Wellington, where he worked towards his next book Mirrors on the Land: Histories of New Zealand Lakes. He manages a team of historians at Te Arawhiti -The Office for Māori Crown Relations.
