This article investigates the way in which archives are managed in NZ museum settings. It explores how archival values are maintained in the management of museum collections. It also considers the degree to which archival values are acknowledged and understood in a museum setting. The article also provides definitions of the terminology used in discussing the findings and the data collection instruments. Finally it reviews the literature dedicated to the management of museum archives. Discusses the issues identified in both a national and an international context.
