Introduction

Abstract

Welcome to a (slightly) new looking Archifacts. There are no major changes, we still have the familiar papers and reviews, but in addition there is a guest editorial, a letter to the editor, and a new feature. Mindful of Archifact’s role as ARANZ’s professional journal and the need to reflect the views of the Association on current events, I invited Theresa Graham to contribute the editorial for this issue. I was also delighted to receive a letter to the editor from a group of distinguished ARANZ members. The editorial and the letter between them provide insight into the reactions of our community to the situation at Archives New Zealand. Publication in Archifacts will help ensure these views contribute to the historical record, but I also hope they will stimulate debate now. Suggestions for guest editorials for future issues are most welcome, as are letters!
